Medical Educator Fellowship Program

Dear IAMSE members,

The International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) is pleased to offer the Medical Educator Fellowship. Through targeted professional development in key aspects of medial education, the goal of this program is to develop well-rounded medical education scholars with additional evidence of specialized achievement that enhances and supports career advancement.

Program Description:
The program encourages proficiency in five content areas - curriculum design, teaching methods and strategies, assessment, educational scholarship, and leadership - that can be attained in three phases:

Phase 1: Completion of an AMEE ESME Program.

Phase 2: Completion of two, day-long faculty development courses. One of the courses must be completed at an annual IAMSE meeting. The second may be completed either at an annual IAMSE, AMEE or Ottawa meeting.

Phase 3: Completion of a required project, resulting in educational scholarship, which demonstrates application of content themes at the participant's home institution. Participants will be expected to submit a project proposal prior to the Annual Meeting.

Who Should Participate:
The program is designed for medical science educators who have completed an ESME program, and are seeking to become more knowledgeable as educators and leaders. Participants will complete a project portfolio that demonstrates how they applied program content areas at their home institutions.

Detailed information on the Fellowship is available on the IAMSE website at http://iamse.org/

Application Requirements:
Applications to the Fellowship must be submitted by the IAMSE Annual Meeting Early Registration deadline via the Annual Meeting Registration Form. The Fellowship fee of $550 USD includes the 3-hour conference workshop modules and materials. Payment is due in full by the meeting's Early Registration deadline. Refund requests must be received in writing one month prior to the course. No refunds will be made after that date.

Call for Proposals to Host the IAMSE Meeting

Dear Members of IAMSE,

Each year IAMSE organizes its Annual Meeting on Medical Education and Professional Development, one of its kind in the international scene of Medical Education. Participants from over 30 different countries will be visiting the meeting.

For the 2016 meeting, the IAMSE Site Selection Committee is investigating possible sites to organize the meeting. At this point, we would like to invite all IAMSE members to consider their own institution to be a possible host for the meeting. Hosting the meeting gives many advantages in establishing new connections with colleagues from other medical schools. And it also offers the host institution to show its own successes and facilities to others.

The Site Selection Committee strongly prefers IAMSE Annual Meetings to be connected with an institution in the field of medical education. Therefore your help and suggestions are invaluable!

Please consider your own institution as possible host for 2016 and discuss this with your own faculty members. More details can be found in the attached document. If you seriously consider hosting, please send us a motivated letter of intention before November 30, 2013. We do not need a full proposal yet. As soon as the Board of Directors of IAMSE has judged all letters of intention, a limited number of institutions will be asked to send in a full proposal.

Letters of intention can be send to Julie Hewett at julie@iamse.org

Please consider our offer and help IAMSE to continue the organization of the Annual Meetings in the future!

Bruce Newton
Chair of the IAMSE Site Selection Committee
