IAMSE Connects Needs YOUR Input!

Dear IAMSE Member,

The next issue of the electronic membership newsletter of the International Association of Medical Science Educators … IAMSE Connects … will be issued in January of 2011. The purpose of this newsletter is to connect the IAMSE membership with information, opportunities, resources and each other. We are very pleased to dedicate one section of this newsletter to recognize the professional accomplishments of our members but we need your help! Have you received awards or promotions or landed a great new job in the last year? We would like to know about it and celebrate your accomplishments in our newsletter. Please send your news to Julie@iamse.org by January 1, 2011 for inclusion in the January 2011 edition. Sorry, we can only include professional accomplishments in the newsletter, but welcome you to share your personal news on the IAMSE Facebook page!

Thanks for your help!

"New Places, New Opportunities, New Ideas in Medical Education Series"

Dear Colleagues -

Please join us for the upcoming IAMSE Web Seminar Series: "New Places, New Opportunities, New Ideas in Medical Education Series"

The series will begin January 18, 2011

New medical schools are opening their doors every year in response to an increasing demand for medical practitioners and, correspondingly, medical education. Do they avail of this opportunity to do business as usual or to be innovative and do something different? We asked this question of six medical schools whose curricula reflect their unique missions and their responses form the basis of this seminar series. New opportunities in medical education that they speak to include: increased training in medical research skills across all four years of the undergraduate curriculum; a true integration of inter professional training into medical education; a committed focus on professionalism enabled through a program of mentored self assessment and reflection; and, dealing with cultural differences with a transplanted curriculum.
